Steele Family
Joe and Erin Steele grew up in Wamego, KS across the street from each other and started dating in high school and then married in 2002. They have 3 children; Shambrea (22 years old) who is a Kindergarten teacher at Seitz Elementary in Fort Riley, Trevin (16 years) who is a Junior at Wamego High School and Kason (14 years) who is a sophomore at Wamego High School. As a family, the Steeles’ enjoy music, spending time together, attending and participating in church, community, and sporting events and all things outdoors such as camping, boating, fishing, hunting, riding four-wheelers, traveling, and just simply enjoying nature and all of the beauty it encompasses.
Joe was born in Nebraska and then moved to Wamego with his parents, Rick and Brenda in 1986. After high school, he attended Hutchinson Community College and graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology and then started working at Jeffrey Energy Center in 2001. He has worked in various roles for Evergy and completed several different apprenticeships and enjoys learning new roles and accepting new challenges. Most recently, he has completed his Substation Relay Technician apprenticeship and has settled into his role as a Senior Relay Technician for Evergy out of Manhattan. He will continue to work for Evergy and be involved in the business in many ways providing support behind the scenes as well as on-site assisting with groundskeeping, maintenance, and facility upkeep. He is a jack of all trades and spends a lot of his spare time with the title of “fix it man.” He also enjoys sports, outdoor recreation, and several hobbies including playing guitar and singing/songwriting.
